Support
Stuck, confused, or think a number looks wrong? We’re a small team and we read every message. Most answers are below; if yours isn’t, email us.
What to put in your email
- The email address you sign in with.
- The page you were on — copy the web address from your browser.
- What you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps a lot.
Please never email us your password, full card number, or an AI access key. We will never ask for them.
Signing in
I have an invite code. How do I get started?
Go to Sign up with an invite, enter the code, then create your account with an email and password — or continue with Google. You’ll land on your Account page, and from there you can open your desks.
I forgot my password.
Use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. Enter your email and we’ll send a link to choose a new one — it works once and expires in an hour. If you signed up with Google, there’s no separate password: just use Continue with Google. Still stuck? Email support@datadoughnut.com.
Google sign-in says “No account is linked to this sign-in yet.”
That Google account isn’t connected to a Data Doughnut account. Sign in with the Google account you used when you signed up, or use your email and password. If you’re new, you’ll need an invite code first.
Can my coworkers use my account?
Please don’t share a login — each person needs their own. Email us about adding people from your company and we’ll set it up.
Plans and billing
How does the free trial work?
New plans start with 7 days free. We ask for a card at checkout but don’t charge it until the trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing. Each person gets one free trial.
How do I cancel, update my card, or get a receipt?
Open your Account page and choose Manage billing. That opens our payment partner’s secure billing page, where you can update your card, download invoices and receipts, or cancel. When you cancel, your desks stay open until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Who charges my card, and why is there a tax line?
Payments are handled by Stripe through its Link service, which sells the subscription on our behalf and collects any sales tax that applies where you are. That’s why your receipt and card statement may mention Link or Stripe alongside Data Doughnut. We never see or store your card number.
My payment failed. Will I lose access?
Not right away. We’ll show a reminder and the card is retried automatically. You have 7 days to update your card under Manage billing before your desks pause. Nothing you’ve saved is lost — everything opens again as soon as the payment goes through.
Can I change my plan or switch desks?
Email us with the Level or desks you want and we’ll make the change. Changes are prorated, so you only pay the difference.
Do you give refunds?
Plans renew automatically and aren’t refunded for partly used months or years — cancel any time and you keep access until the end of the period. If we charged you by mistake, or something on our side kept you from using the service, email us and we’ll make it right. See our Terms of Service.
Desks and levels
What’s the difference between a desk and a level?
A desk is a set of pages built for one kind of work — like Business & Site Planning or CareSite Ops. Your level sets what you can do in your desks: Level 1 is read, Level 2 adds asking questions in plain English, and Level 3 adds connecting your AI assistant and linking data into spreadsheets. See Desks and Pricing.
A page says it isn’t in my plan.
That page belongs to a desk you don’t have yet. County and ZIP dossiers open from every desk; other pages open only in their own desk. Your Account page lists your desks and levels.
AI assistants and spreadsheets
Where do I find my AI key or spreadsheet links?
On your Account page, with Show and Copy buttons. These need Level 3. The AI & Spreadsheets page has step-by-step setup.
I think my key was shared by mistake.
Email us right away and we’ll turn that key off and give you a fresh one.
The data
Where do the numbers come from?
From public U.S. government sources, and OpenStreetMap where noted. Every desk page has a “Where this comes from” note, and the Data Catalog lists each source, the agency, and how current it is.
A number looks wrong.
Please tell us — send the page address and what you expected. Sometimes the agency’s own data has the issue, sometimes we do; either way we’ll look into it and tell you what we find.
How often is the data updated?
As often as each agency publishes — some monthly, some yearly. The catalog shows the latest year or date for each source.
Security
If you think you’ve found a security problem, email support@datadoughnut.com with “Security” in the subject. Please don’t test against other people’s accounts or data.
